A Hooded Nudibranch (Melibe leonina) resting on a blade of Eelgrass. Sometimes there are 1000's of these swimming in the ocean and diving with them is a most amazing experience.
Wow Derek this is gorgeous! Kind of reminds me of the Amazon's glass frog which is transparent underneath.
Thanks for the explanation...was going to ask. What an amazing creature, and the photo is spectacular! Cheers, pear
The ocean has so many unique creatures...you have captured this beautifully Derek.
Thanks Laurel, I will certainly never tire of the biodiversity here. As a matter of fact I was down under this afternoon. It is just me that gets tired......all that nitrogen and all in the blood stream. :-) Derek
Thank you for visiting Brian, regards Derek
Greetings from Italy!
Thank you Marco, Derek
What a beautiful, strange creature you found under the water, Derek! It must be a fascinating world you are exploring, and your photos are brilliant! I especially like this one! The details of the veins etc. are really amazing when you look at it in full size! I wonder if the red thing in the middle of the body is the heart! Greetings, Anne
Thank you Anne; It could be the heart, but I was unable to find any reference material to confirm. Ja ein Kanadier der auch Deutsch spricht. :-) regards Derek
Derek: Another great one! You've specialized in a rare and unusual means of photography, and you've honed it to amazing effect! Best wishes, Indy
OO I get to vote for it too! Yippee :)
Thanks GG and Indy; seasons greetings, Derek
