I was on top of Mt Ruapehu last year but can't figure out the location you took the picture from. The lake outlet is on the right side so we were approximately in the same place. What are you standing on? Also what month were you there? It looks like winter or early spring.

Thanks for contacting me. I sat down on the edge of the really steep chute and took those pictures. Then I snowboarded down into the chute. It was end of winter, really good day.
