I liked your pics of the canal.
I found some photos by Galatas a while back of canals in England and Wales and I was surprised that they still use them as they were originally intended and for camping vacations. He sent me a number of websites with information on the canals in his home country.
The canals here in America are mostly forgotten. They will restore small stretches for tourist dollars, but the restored sections don't really go anywhere.
The one seen here in my photo though brings the water supply in off of the river for the City of Richmond. It is also a pretty nice winter fishing spot. The water is a wee bit deep and calm so the fish will gather there.
