Now that's a Ryan composition! Beautiful! The geometric form of the metal beam and the wonderful Buzzard or hawk (what is it?)flying majestetically. Great shot! Perfect!
Thank you May! I was afraid the quality was not good enough, since this bird would not stay put long enough for me to focus correctly. I have looked up the bird, and I think it is called a turkey vulture (I changed the title). They are very ugly on the ground, but beautiful when they fly. They're almost as big as golden eagles and bald eagles, but much more common.
Ryan, I've tried to take a picture of a flying buzzard, but up to now I haven't been very lucky. May
May, the other day I was lying down in the sun outside, and less than a minute later there were three of these birds circling overhead. They didn't stick around, though, once they saw me move. Maybe you should have your camera ready and lie down in the street. :-) Ryan
Hmmm? I wonder what they thought about you, lying there in the sun?
Thanks for the advice! …and if I get run over by a car, I am convinced they will circle around above me as well. ;-( May
No, don't get hit by a car! I was thinking more like a driveway or an alley where cars don't go. Or the grass if you prefer. The object is to trick the vultures, not make them right!
No, I was kidding! ;-)))
Thanks Gerry! Yes, vultures are a bit morbid, but fascinating to watch.
They hunt by sight. They circle high up, and when they see what looks like a dead animal, they come down for a closer look. I was working on a scaffold under a new roof when they came circling over me. It's been a while since I've needed to work under my car, but next time I change the oil I'll be sure the check the sky overhead once I've finished!
