Red Flabellina (Flabellina triophina), this is a fairy small Nudibranch, about 2-3cm long. Do you know that Nudibranch have "rasp" like mouths that drill holes into clams for feeding?

Wow! I did not know that! Thanks for sharing and mapping.

P.S. It's fantastic too!

This is really a fantastic photo! Gold star for this. I can't even imagine how difficult these macro shots must be in the dark underwater.

Amazing picture, I like it!

Kind regards, Alex.

Derek Holzapfel on November 25, 2010

Thanks Alex and Nawitka. The hardest part about underwater photography here is the silt and particulate. As soon as the bottom is stirred up all the silt becomes a cloud and then no pictures can be taken.

Hello NatureDiver. My younger brother has been diving at God's Pocket recently. He says there's not an inch of rock underwater that is not teaming with life. Too bad it's so damned cold. He could stay down longer. Nice Nudibranch. ;-) + like

Your brother is absolutely correct. There is life upon life upon life. That is what makes diving here so fantastic. A little cold is a small price to pay. Actually it is the cold water that supports the vast biodiversity. regards Derek
