Greetings Alex, Thanks for visiting the Georgetown Loop and commenting. Steam locomotives are only used for tourist attractions in Colorado. Sometimes Hollywood shows up and shoots a movie, but they never get used for freight and regular passenger traffic. So yes, these trains are real tourist attractions and very popular.
