Such an innocent, proud and cute bird

He used to come and eat each morning along with the parrots but he doesn't any more, I often wonder what happened to him. He looks innocent, but he can make short work of a snake with his beak. They have the most wonderful "laugh" It's a joy to hear. Palmina

Nice - I never saw this bird, but many years ago I tried to learn playing the didgeridoo (in Germany) and we had to imitate the voice of this bird on the didge. Greetings from Germany

Glad you like it. Did you ever master the Didgeridoo? Iunderstand it is very hard to learn.

Hi Palmina! No, it is not hard to learn. It is factinating, because first we tried to get the purring sound (right word?- the sound the cats make if they feel good).. most people need only less than one hour...then we tried some natural sounds-like the Kookaburra...after one of the technics is the 'circular breathing'- for a uninterrupted sound. In the workshop we tried to learn it with a straw bubbling in water... Learning the circular breathing is not easy, but after some month trying it at home on the didge I got it :-) ... I think its a 'healthy' instrument- also used in healing!

HI, Thanks for the answer. I'm glad you mastered it. It is a wonderful sound, as you say healing but it is also haunting too. I can imagine it echoing for miles in the outback of Australia on a still night.

Hi,thanks for your comments and special greets from our friend. It is not our dog - he lives on a nice farm near our place and we visit him sometimes. A very friendly Australian sheppard. Greets from Germany

Congrats on a nice picture. You captured him well. This is one bird I'd like to see in its native surroundings. One day, perhaps.
Greetings from another misplaced northeasterner. I grew up in Seaham Harbour, but now live in Far Northern California.
Regards, Paul

Such a pretty little bird, Palmina! You are lucky the birds come so close to your house! I always find it difficult to capture birds - they fly away most of the times! Greetings, Anne

Thanks Anne. The Kookaburra is a great bird, noisy but lovely! We are very lucky. This evening we had about 30 Parrots in the tree in the garden, the noise was deafening!
