These gardens in the heart of Manchester have changed a lot over the last 50 years. Now it sports a rather interesting variable height fountain.
A place to come back to if they are coloured lights at night. nice clear sky like here but i bet yours is colder. steve
Very nice sun light on this photo. The fountain design indicates that Manchester is lucky to have enough sunny warm days to enjoy water on the pavement.
Steve, I have not seen this in the dark, but as they are lit and you see the fountains almost at their lowest here, they must be quite a sight.
Nickolay, yes Manchester will have much warmer Winters than your famously cold Russian ones. An average of about 6C till March but some very cold nights too. The wet pavement is actually a raised (about 75cm) dais, so no skating on there but whilst I was there some children were playing under the fountains getting wet. (Before, I readied my camera!)
PS Manchester is only about 9 miles (15km) from my home.
Regards to you both, Herb
Beautiful shot Herb.
Hi Herb, this is a really well captured urban landscape. Great composition, and the reflections in the fountain make the foreground really 'sparkle'. The light on the tall building in the background is excellent... :)
Best wishes from Beara, Clive

Ah! The Debenhams in the back. I remember mummy and grandmummy dragging me through there seemingly every day looking at the same lady stuff when I was knee-high to them.
Georgy glad you like my picture of Manchester.
Whoelius, very pleased to know that this picture conjures up pleasant memories!
