Was this picture taken in your home town Ryan?
I've been busy collecting pics of clocks here and that one is very eye-catching. :)
The town (city) of Pacific reminds me so much of Moose Jaw (more older buildings to new ones...am I right?)
Thanks, Pam. No, this isn't my hometown. But it's pretty close, only 20 minutes away. It's an old railroad town, but it's hard to say how old some of the buildings are. The older ones are probably those clustered along the tracks and the old Route 66. Newer ones are mixed in, but they don't really stand out, because they're not that new.
Route 66 :) ...I've seen many references to it lately. I'm going to have to check our collection and see if we have a book on it.
You should watch the Pixar movie Cars. :-)
I like this clock with the oldfashioned handles and face. Is the house a warehouse. Good composition! Greetings, May
Thanks, May. The buildings visible here are a drugstore, a restaurant, and an empty building that is for rent. The upper floors might be used for apartments or storage, though. Greetings, Ryan
Hello Ryan, I also like this old-fashioned clock. Looks nostalgic! Nice photo, Ryan. Greetings, Anne
That is not rexall drugs if you are from pacific, Mo. it is known as Birdsong Pharmacy, the empty building that was for rent is now MoMo's candy store....My Grandma was born in Pacific and i grew up in the Pacific/Eureka area so i dont want to sound mean ... i am really glad to see pics of my area so please take this as being informative.... Pacific is going through alot of changes and starting to move up or improve.... the whole town is getting a face lift perse....the town kinda went down when the wal-mart closed and alot of people lost jobs.... but now its up and coming back again which is so nice to see.... so my gramma is going to be 80this year and alot of the buildings sare at least that old. thanks for posting the pic Ryan i was excited to see a part of home here....
Yes, the Birdsong family has run the Pharmacy for several generations, now.
There are apartments upstairs for most of those buildings. The clock is fairly new, tho, and is part of the revitalization.
This is actually a NE facing pic, with St Louis Street running E/W and First Street running N/S and it becomes Hwy O south of town, Hwy OO north of town. The RR tracks are just to the right (south) of picture and the raised tracks kept this section of town from flooding several times now. (Unfortunately, my sister lived on the other side a few blocks away and her home was dmaged in 2008 flood.)
