Piet Retief Obelisk (1971)
This granite obelisk forms part of the trek routes depicted on the site.
It indicates the place where Piet Retief anf 70 of his fellow trekkers and servants were murdered on the 6th Frbruary 1838 at the command of the Zulu king, Dingane. The trekkers were overpowered in the royal kraal, Umgungundlovu.
