Faruk Bey ilginize tekrar cok tesekkurler.

Volkan YUKSEL, on November 6, 2007, said:

Dear Avelino Silva, thanks for your kind comment. I must agree with you that this is really a extraordinarily lucky shot for me. I hope you also noticed the electric discharge in to sky from the antennas on the roof. This is another evidence indicating that how enormous the power of the lightning was. But to my surprise, after the lightning Sears Tower was seemed to me unaffected as if noting ever happened :) Best wishes, Volkan

Volkan YUKSEL, on November 8, 2007, said:

Somebody send me new location suggestion for this photo and comented as shuch;

"Comment by ?: I suggest two coordinates be given for any lightning strike: the position of the camera AND the position of the strike when it is possible to do so."

I agree that camera location and the target should be indicated simultaneously not only for lightning shots like this one but for all photos. However, curently Panoramio supports only one location for each photo. To owercome diffuculty associated with this, I've been indicating the direction of the shot from that location in the name section of the photo. Also indication of the date is valuable information for any photo, I hope more people follows these practices. Regards, Volkan

This picture is amazing! Even though it is on the computer, I still have to squint to even look at the picture it's so bright!

Volkan YUKSEL, on November 12, 2007, said:

Thank you much Spirit of the werewolf and Perkins4. As I mentioned on my previous reply, this lightning was so powerful, as you can see on the original sized view, lightning was coming out of the antennas on the top of the building. I am glad you enjoyed this photo. Best wishes from Chicago, Volkan

Rafael (Retrocool), on April 26, 2008, said:

That is a pretty cool photo, but cant help to refer back to a horror movie, "Poltergeist 3", at the end of the film when the lightning hits the antennas!

Hehe. Regardelss. Fantastic cool photo!

Wow. What a photo. Where where you when this photo was shot?

Volkan YUKSEL, on July 23, 2008, said:

Hi Conan787, thank you. I was struggling between taking this picture and protecting the camera from the storm at the indicated location near Planetarium. Actually, in the lower left quadrant of the picture you can see the distortion caused by drop on the lens. Nevertheless, I am glad that I took the risk for this shot :) Cheers from Chicago, Volkan

Wow, no wonder it has more than 2000 views. That's not something most of us would ever get to see without a skilled photographer to catch the moment for us.

Many thanks for being there and being brave enough to take the photo. Personally, I would have been under the bed!! Kind regards, Sue

Volkan YUKSEL, on September 15, 2008, said:

Thank you much Sue, it is very exciting to have a photo seen more than "20 thousand" times ;) Yes, that night there was severe storm warning around Chicago and I always take it as good news for me for the obvious reason :D Best regards, Volkan

gonzo13, on November 28, 2008, said:

Just Stunning. How did you capture it? Sears Tower sure attracts lightnings - it's so high...

Volkan YUKSEL, on November 30, 2008, said:

Dear Gonzo13, commonly used technique is to take sequences of long exposure photos during the storm with a hope that sooner or later one of the exposure would capture impressive lightning. What makes this photo remarkable to me is, I was doing the multiple exposures during the rain with no umbrella or shelter.

Thanks for your message and thanks to all for making this photo been seen 30008 times so far. It perhaps is on its way to become one of the historic photos ever captured in Chicago :) And big thanks to my Dear friend Dianne for informing me about this storm which made me get determined for taking a photo like this from it.

Best wishes, Volkan

Lightning is dangerous, and my dad and mom were scared of it, but now their in heaven. The warning is you can't go near lightning. You can get shocked and die. Airplanes, and helicopters were struck by lightning. They could have fire, and flames. They can't work it out. It was at 9:34 at night?

Volkan YUKSEL, on April 14, said:

Zachary, thank you much for sharing your thoughts with me. Yes, lightning sure can kill, but, at least without much suffering :)

I am sorry to hear that you lost your parents. Was it because of lightning? Yes it was 9:34 in the evening.
