Correctly, Ettington Park; "Ettington Park is a spectacular neo-Gothic mansion situated six miles from Stratford-upon-Avon in the picturesque Stour Valley. The River Stour weaves its way through the estate.
Behind the impressive mid-Victorian Gothic exterior of the house we see today lies a very complex building and family history of the Shirleys. They are one of Warwickshire’s oldest families whose lineage, by uninterrupted male descent, can be traced back over a thousand years to the Domesday Book of 1086 and beyond. "

I remember this from my early years. I used to live in Lower Quinton, not too far from here. An old school friend of mine tried to steal a statue from here but was spotted in the moonlight and arrested.
My final project at School of Architecture in 1976 was on a development of the estate.
It is a fabulous building. Behind it used to be a Polish Hostel which closed in the mid '50's.
A college friend of mine ran the Hotel for a short while. He ruined the inside with some dreadful decorations.
With the right sunlight it looks fabulous driving down the slope ffrom Newbold towards Stratford-upon-Avon.

Thank you for your lovely comment and your dear story...this is a marvellous building indeed with an amazing park and the gloomy ruins of the old chapel-like building...I especially liked the dark, gothic atmosphere that lingered all over the place
I think you are among the few lucky ones who took part of the creation of this atmosphere
I just realised: mapping says "Eatington" which is funny coz GE can't find a place in UK called like this ...
