This picture is not of City Hall. It was taken from City Hall, looking southeast at the United States Customs House. This is the oldest Federal Government building in Savannah, completed in 1852. The six columns in the front of the building are solid granite (not the typical stacked sections), carried on the decks of sailing ships from Massachusetts, originating in New England quarries. The architect was John Norris of New York City.
