You gathered it right, Bruce. I went the dirt road by car, since I was there at the end of August/beginning of September. I didn't know there were Bald Eagles in the park. I went there because it was a good place to spot moose ;>)
Norrel, LOL, I've been out to Jackson 4 times, and have never had the chance to get this far up the highway. So funny - a few weeks ago, this is the spot I was aiming to get to before flying out (well, to this point on the paved road - no way to get out a dirt road in all the snow.) But now looking around at the other shots posted in the area, I find this shot by you there! I only made it as far north as the Snake River Overlook, but I still somehow managed to take about 100 shots in the hour drive, though, lol.
Lol! You've found this pic of mine by coincidence. It's a very nice place. I like the Tetons a lot. When I was there my pictures were limited by the amount of film I carried. This picture is a scanned slide I took in 1995. I'd love to come back to this place. I will when my kids are old enough to realize the beauty of this place.
well, I bet it won't be long before Casper the ski master can appreciate the winter beauty of the area! It's all very interesting in the winter - but I just can't drag myself away from skiing then. NEXT year the plan is to go up to Yellowstone directly from the airport, and to then go settle in at the ski area.
Thanks Bruce- having the north entry the only one in winter is the main reason I haven't made it there yet, but I'm finally ready to breakdown and take a snowcoach in and stay overnight. They leave from West Yellowstone, and apparently from the south entrance, too - I met people at one of the overlooks who were on their way to the south entrance to go in for a few days. Who knows what will transpire between now and next Feb/Mar, but never having made it in to Yellowstone so far is the one thing I kick myself for.
Perfect tranquility! Great photo, Y* and BOP.
Thanks a lot for visiting, Miroslav!
