I saw this view when I was 8 years old as I left Cuba with my 22 year-old sister, on January 27, 1962, except that we saw spinning propellers outside our window, instead of jet turbines. At that moment, my sister said : Goodbye my beautiful Cuba, we shall never see you again. Maybe she was wrong. Cuba may be FREE and prosperous again someday.

César M. González, of course Cuba will be flourishing as ever...you know, I understand your feelings perfectly. I lived in Cuba for two years (1975-77), I was attending the Jose Marti school to speak Spanish, and I was 15-17 year old boy at the time. I saw this view when we were first landing the Havana airport, and there was a group of Cuban officers coming from Moscow with us - when they saw the view, they screamed: Viva Cuba!! Patria o muerte - Venceremos!!!!!!!!, aplausing again and again....I lived in Havana, Vedado, the very center of the city, Edificio Focsa. Father worked there as the construction engineer; we know Havana maybe by it's every square meter - walking round there day and night was the ultimate satisfaction.....the people is so kind and welcoming, dancing whole day 'n' night....You have the superb homeland, which became my homeland too....Of course life there now's difficult but believe me a day will come when it'll become prosperous and rich. Simply I'd wish Cubans to be free of anyone's influence - Russian or American - and to live their own way. Regards, Sam Harutyunyan from Armenia

I took this photo as I was taking off from Havana, as it seems to be a subject of discussion.
