She looks very happy. I remember seeing a similar picture on the cover of the catalogue of the German Blume publishing company taken in Cuba many, many years ago in which a girl is also speaking on a much older telephone than this one. If I can find it...
Children are, off course, always a thankful object. Make sure to also have a look at this one and this one. I'll post a few extra very soon.
I'm always sorry portraits don't make it to Google Earth. Often they tell more about a country than the landscape does.
Very lovely picture.
The old public phones had rotary dials. We paid 5 cents for "unlimited time" to the annoyance of anyone waiting. Many phones always returned the nickel, so we used them all the time for whatever reason just to play.
Cuban children are always smiling and happy. I grew up in that Island and never saw an unhappy kid.
Safe and happy children
I found the picture but due to lack of legal copyright I can't upload it here.
You are right I could try that. Unlike many users on Panoramio I under no circumstances violate copyrights.... ;-)
I finally found a bookshop where the book was on display.
Unfortunately the photo is not complete: on the back cover of the book it is possible to see a young man in an olive green uniform.
Maybe you don't find the resemblance but when I first viewed Hans's photo the older one inmediately came to my mind. Of course they are different: two people staring at the camera instead of one, a different poise of the girls holding the telephone.
Please notice the public telephone models.
Gradulation! Your new fan is :o)
