December 16, 2012: Today, I dedicate this photograph to the 27 victims of the Newtown, Connecticut school massacre. In 1980, when this photo was taken, I remember driving with Mom through Newtown on our way to the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park, New York for lunch. New Haven, my hometown, was the "big city" with its big city problems. But rural Newtown seemed like the very heart and soul of New England - and America. God bless.
