I tried getting some images in the snow, with snow in the trees, but they came out crap. You and Ian seem to have it covered. Nice job!
Thanks Si I think it was a case of "right place, right time" My problems were getting the white balance right and worrying about whether we would get home!
Can't remember which is in which gallery, but I had the time, and the place looked good. The Saint Hilda Church shot which I made sepia. And my chicken coup. The images came out crap. Like too blue. So maybe I need to work with White Balance?
How does that work?
I adjust the white balance in Photoshop but I am sure you can do it in GIMP try googling it. Its like washing powder, your blues just come out white!!!
Honestly, I use Picasa as my universal sorting and broad brush touching-up program Kenny and Si and it has a one-touch white balance, contrast, lighting button that cannot be beat! I promise. Then you can do a grey spot or white spot adjustment that is even better in the same tool.
Picasa is free from Google and I then only use GIMP for those hard to remove stains (continuing with your washing powder analogy Kenny) and learning it will pass away the time while you are all snowed in (or at least 2 minutes of it - its so easy).
Anyway, it looks like you've had a drop of weather then? We went out to lunch to a Mexican restaurant yesterday lunchtime and watched the cancelled racing and postponed footie on Sky Sport (Mexicans LOVE footie). Even home games at Portsmouth are postponed? WOW!!!
Best wishes from a mind and sunny (and snow free) Canada
Hi Jethro Even Gatwick airport was closed for a time. The snow was coming down faster than they could clear it!
