Male Northern Cardinal having a snack.
I seed you!
This red bird, the Northern Cardinal, is eating a Black Oil Sunflower Seed. The seed's covering, a hull, has to be removed first. He repeatedly and quickly crunches moving the seed around until all the outer parts have slipped away. What a mess! But, OH, YUM!
LOL! I have the Mrs munching on something in a shot waiting to post...but not nearly as much of a close up as yours:) The color pattern on the male makes for a very dramatic shot!
I'm waiting to see your Ms Cardinal, reckon we could introduce them?
Hi Jean Golly! I had this fellow on my bird bath just a day or so ago.:)) What a great closeup of the handsome cardinal. It really is amazing to watch them get rid of the "husk" around the seeds, done so quickly, in a flash almost. You did a fantastic job of catching him in the act, a great shot Jean.
Very beautiful picture LIKE Jean. Greetings from Holland John.
Good work on this maga-closeup.

Really great shot! I liked your gallery, favorite photographers.
Great catch, Jean!!
Now I'm hungry for sunflower seeds. ;-)
Yes, I have these in my garden often!
This one look stuffed, but still alive!
