I find this particular part of Tokyo to be of endless fascination for what it represents about Japanese history and the aspirations of its people.

As a good reader of history yourself, I'm sure you understand the signifigance of this story.

Indeed! These street-lamps are a brilliant inspiration that invoke a fusion between Western and Japanese design influences that goes well beyond its simple utilitarian purpose.

I guess strictly speaking they are not really Edo at all but truly Meiji in their heritage.
