Lhotse is 27,940 feet (8,516 meters) high and is seen as being in the shadow of Everest. “Lhotse” is literally translated from Tibetan to mean “South Peak”. The south face of the mountain is very steep, so the climbing routes are mainly to the northwest.

Annotation: This is the 3300 meter high vertical south face of Earth's fourth highest mountain (8516 m) as it was noticed by the author. Thus it may be the steepest flank among all eight-thousander peaks. It's one of the thousands of breathtaking miracles in the world of mountains, created by GOD, the Almighty One!!!
