Hank, I'm revving up for the trip even though it's two months away, and wow! I came upon this wonderful shot of yours. Stunning! Marilyn

Hank Waxman on January 21, 2008

Thanks Marilyn. I love this picture, and especially the car on the road below and between the mittens (left and right mittens are what these formations are aptly named).

Certainly the car gives scale to the monoliths, something that is missing from many pictures of Monument Valley...even my own, and it was this vehicle that I felt was racing the sunset - perhaps for a better vantage point.

Thanks for stopping by.

What a wonder!! Congratulations! Greetings, Matteo.

Thanks Matteo, this is one of my favorite shots. As I noted above, a favorite element of mine is the car racing the sunset which gives the photo scale.

Cheers,

Hank

Classic !!

Hank Waxman on February 7, 2009

Thank you AcheG. I appreciate your comments especially since you have done such a wonderful job recording Monument Valley yourself. I totally enjoyed wandering through your pages of the National Parks of the US and, of course, my home town, New York.

Cheers,

Hank

Thank you FEIKA, every time I get a chace to llok at this shot I enlarge it just to recapture the scale of the beauty.

another reason for "racing sunset" ... they lock the gates to the drive after dark.

Hank Waxman on February 25, 2010

I didn't know that. As you know, this shot was taken form the parking lot of the visitor's center. It was straight to the motel after the sun was gone.

Thanks for visiting,

Hank

I saw this place at Google Earth. Very nice and fantastic mountain.

All the best from Iran,

Thank you Mahdi, and thanks for the link to your picture. There really is something beautiful and dramatic about the forms created by eroding rock.

This is a wonderful scenery. When I once was in the US I missed it... you can't do everything. Anyway, your picture gives successfully the idea. Ciao, Andrea

Thank you Andrea, for your generous comments about what I think is one of the most striking areas of the US. It's a pleasure to welcome you to my gallery as well. Hank
