Beautiful photo of the colours of heather and stone formations, Sarah! I have been to Manchester, Sheffield, Liverpool and Chester, but not yet to the Roaches. Looks wonderful, I hope to get there sometime. Greetings, May

Hello May, thanks for your kind comment!
The Roaches is (/are? the name comes from les roches) an untypical outcrop in a glorious stretch of countryside - the North Staffordshire Moorlands to the Derbyshire Peaks. I've been looking through some 35mm photos & I have a panorama of the Peaks which I'll get scanned in & post up to show you what it's like.
This area around the Roaches has some very special towns - Buxton in Derbyshire is probably the prettiest. It's a relatively un-touristy part of the world, but all the more beautiful for that!
Thanks again - all best regards.

Sarah, thank you for your information! I look forward seeing your Peak panorama! Actually I think I have passed Buxton by car, I remember vaguely the railway station, when I was in the Peak district. I guess the latter isn't the same as Derbyshire Peaks, you have been mentioning.
Greetings, May

Hello,Pics are great. If they are next to the A53 as suggested, they are actually the Ramshaw Rocks. The Roaches lie about a km west.
