This privately funded and recently erected memorial is a monument not just to the Royal Air Force who were not based in the city but had an Air Sea Rescue base across the Cattewater at Mount Batten. It commemorates not just British airmen but those from all nationalities who fought for with or alongside the Allies. The effort to attain inclusivity has produced a long wordy text with afterthought addenda but the skillfully designed statue and poignant text make for a worthy and impressive memorial.
