One of the last steam locos in Collie, with the line collapsed underneath it....at the back of the Wilson Park area.

OOOOPS!! No track safety checks in those days :) Do you know if it was in use at the mine or logging?

trev007 on December 19, 2010

Oh heck, imagine the effort to remove this, I`m suprised its not a landmark now !

InTheBush on December 19, 2010

Hi D, unbelievable isn't it!! I pondered on that issue myself, and look at all the dry grass right up to the track. I will find out more and report back :-)

InTheBush on December 19, 2010

Hi Trev007, I agree, would be interesting to know how they removed it, what a mess!! Bit of a delightful diversion for the locals at the time, by the look, my hubby's family included!

I hope the traindriver could get out... not a case of 'no worries'..

InTheBush on December 19, 2010

That's a great Aussie saying Geerten, have you adopted it too? :-) We're a bit of a laid-back kind of bunch, down here.....

Hello again, Like this photo of the steam train, how long ago was the photo taken because it looks like one of the one's on desplay in Collie.I have news My partner and I are moving to Beverley on the 7th of January next year and we are both looking foreward to the move. I have finished working in the mining industry now so no more trips to Collie for a while. Will expand my hobby of metal sculpture more and get a good camera and take lots of photo's on the next outback trip in April next year. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and enjoy.Cheers Michael.

Hi Michael, how nice to hear from you...and lovely news that you are moving with your partner! You'll still be on panoramio though I hope!! Always like to see your photos from the Goldfields!! This photo of the train with the collapsed rails was taken in 1972. Is there one like this on display somewhere? It is very likely because it would have been a well-visited and therefore well-photographed happening at the time. My husband and his family lived nearby at the time. Are you going to by a DSLR? All the Best to you!! Regards C.

Oh, die schöne alte Lokomative. Ich hoffe nur, dass niemand zu Schaden kam und auch das Gefährt wieder fahren kann. Tolles Foto. Man muss nur zum richtigen Zeitpunkt an der richtigen Stelle sein. L
