Fotheringhay in Spring

Spring daffodils on the banks of the Nene River, by the bridge at Fotheringhay, Northamptonshire, England, taken from the site of Fotheringhay Castle, now demolished. The Castle was the inspiration for the late Sandy Denny's hauntingly beautiful song Fotheringay, (recorded with Fairport Convention), recounting the sad story of Mary, Queen of Scots, who was executed at this spot in 1587.
