Show you background: This waterfall is the border of China & Vietnam. Eest part (in picture) is China, the other side is Vietnam. But it is free to cross the border for local people without any passport even marriage between these two country. --I love this peaceful places and wish world could be a happy village without border. --Darkflyrobin

Dear Friend, what a wonderful place and photo¡¡¡¡¡I am planning to travel to Detian in august. I will arrive from the chinese side. Is it possible to cross the river freely? Is there a control to pass to Vietnam and continue the trip to Hanoi? Which is the nearest chinese town to stay? Thank you very much and best regards from Spain

I try to cross the river before, but it is not permitted to go deep into another country without passport. So I think you'd to get a official passport in order to arrive hanoi.

For the nearest town located nearby the fall. There are many hotel and also simple English could be understood by most local people, especially for the Young. Maybe you can prepare some chinese cash in advance.
