The eagles have returned to Mystic Lakes - and brought lots of friends! This year there have been about 6 eagles around the lakes, and they've been putting on some pretty nice shows!
Hey a double eagle, way to go Bits! Good title too.
If you attach a ring to its leg, Guy could check if this is one of his eagles.
LOL Norrel - maybe Guy has trained his eagles to fly down here and get pictures of Horn Pond to scoop me on them! It would be nice if these birds had nice identifiable marks so we could know from year to year if they're the same ones. And I'm guessing this one is definitely from up north, or at least not from around here. Any nestlings they can get to they do band.
Thanks Guy! I suuuuuure hope these guys stay this cooperative when the weather improves and I can get some better shots!
Thanks Tery! These were definitely the closest I've had the eagles get to me. It's nice that the group in this winter seems to be liking the parkway side of the lakes, so people can get closer to them. My auto-focus sure didn't like the brown-on-brown, though, and I missed a lot of cool shots of it heading right toward me.
Those would be cool captures headed at you! Keep trying. As for identification: check the arrangement of white under the left wing > looks like Pac Man ready to chomp down!
Excellent capture Bitsy.
LOL, Tery - now I think of this eagle as 'Pac Man'!
Thanks Laurel! This one put on such a great show for me. Wish he'd been that cooperative today when it was sunny.
Waw! Great shot Bits. You actually got to get out of your igloo to take this shot? LoL. Has the blizzard been really bad your way?
Hi marbiz - Happy New Year! I headed to the lake to hunt for eagles the morning that storm was headed for us, and struck gold! We got about 17 inches of snow, but being the Monday just after Christmas, there was no need to go anywhere, so it was a really enjoyable snow day. So we only have a little left on the ground now. Now if the sun would just stay in the sky late enough to get some photos after work hours!
Way to go, Bits!! Beautiful juvenile! Fingers crossed they stick around for you! Cheers, pear
Thanks pear! It was sure a thrill whne it came swooping by me circling. I haven't been able to get by there too often, but they definitely have been staying around. LOL, I brought my mother by to see if I could show her one, and there was one out on the ice chowing down on a duck. LOL, real life Wild Kingdom. (I won't be posting those shots....!)
