Don't worry! The eagle is actually flying away here. While I thought it was going after the ducks, it was really after the fish the ducks were after.
Hi there Kamaly!! :)
I am ashamed to say I have performed a drive-by liking on your other eagle capture, because this one has me mesmerized! WoW! Holy birdcapture birdwoman!
I was thinkin' that contrary to my first thoughts, birds are alot like people. The pretty ones usually aren't very bright! If you were doing the duck paddle in a body of water and saw a plane about to crash into it, wouldn't you get the heck out the way?
I hope you had a fabulous Christmas!! Which bird did you decide on? We gobble-gobbled, now I look like I'm wearing a snow suit... but I'm not ;D
From the depths of the Abyss... I mean Canada, GG :)
P.S. I hope yaw aren't gettin too much of that there blizzard!
LOL, that's funny! I'd noticed the 'Like' on the other one and wondered where it came from. LOLOL 'Drive-by Liking' !
This was sure pretty cool - I wish the sun had been out to provide better contrast, but it's sure interesting to compare the sizes of the eagle vs. the mergansers. I think the eagle was beyond the hoodies when I snapped this. (Though eagles make crows and even gulls looks like sparrows. They're so huge!) And lolol, yeah, the birds zoom away from humans, but let a giant bird of prey fly over, and they didn't even notice!
Thanks! And hope you all had a great Christmas as well (and the puppies didn't get ALL the goodies!) So far only about 4" of snow here. We'll see how things pile up by morning!
Mercy sake that eagle looks massive!
When the eagles are in the air here the seagulls scatter. Mind you I've seen the ravens go after those scavengers.
Thanks Tery! The eagle was massive! And yeah, I've heard stories of ravens and eagles getting in spats. And it's always funny to watch smaller birds harass larger raptors. Mockingbirds harass hawks and crows...and then hawks and crows harass eagles! There was a red-tail bothering the eagles yesterday (there were actually several of them. Got a shot of 2 on a branch.) And last year flocks of crows would mob the eagles - like in this shot.
Hi Bits. Yeah it's great to see the wee birds (starlings?) dive bomb the eagles: like fighter jets harassing a four engine bomber plane.
Thanks Nawitka! woooo-hooooo: It seems we now have our very own Eagle Tree here!! Got shots of two of them in it today. And while I'd have posted a page of them a few years ago, now I think 'Naaah, that's a throw away. I'll wait and get a better one!' It's nice that the bald eagles are finally getting the word from the Canada Geese that this is a great area to winter in :D
Great capture, I'm glad to hear the ducks were ok.
Thanks Laurel! I was also. It sure was tough to decide who to pull for. The eagles that are around seem to prefer fish, so hopefully all the cute ducks will remain safe.
