Meckelstedt Steinkiste

Cist in Lower Saxony.

One of the few well preserved Bronze Age cists in Lower Saxony. It was discovered in 1896. The chamber is build of seven uprights and five capstones. The capstones are flat and of smaller size, compared to the usual stone age burial chamber. Furthermore the chamber is covered with smaller stones.

A bronze sword, axe and dagger have been found in the chamber, you can see them in the 'Landesmuseum Hannover'.
