Haji Xan's Castle (قلعه حاجی صفقلی خان)

On the top of the cliff Haji Safqoli Xan had erected a castle, whence he ruled his estate at surrounding villages. The castle did not survive after the Xan's death about 80 years ago. However, the village of Gaveyran (روستای گاویران، شهرستان کلیبر), located around a fountain gushing beneath the cliff, was thriving until the village headman (Kalbi Hasan) was murdered by some unknown assassins in 1972. A feud was erupted between the two factions in the village and shortly all inhabitants migrated to a shantytown near Tabriz. The indicate time is in U.S. central time zone.
