hell with that.. Akutan is no slavery camp.. this place is much better than most villages in this state. At least we have running water & local sewer systems. We have a great school, a general merchandise store, post office. City offices, Corporation Office, Tribe office, and Fisheries Offices, among others. A state of the art clinic and Police/Fire Building! A small restaurant. And the largest Fish Processing Cannery in North America! (Trident Seafoods) Our village consists of mostly natives(Aleut)- 65 of us total right now 6-11-08. The cannery can hold up to 2000 people at peak season. Most of the bering sea KING CRAB is processed here and shipped out to you in the world. If you think it's slavery.. then you obviously are blind to it's beauty. Come here, experience all we have, then give you're negitive comments like that if that's how you still feel!
