On the Fringe at Dusk!!~~~

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Taken during a cold spell from the old Whitby Abbey to Hawsker road, known as Hawsker Lane.

The temperature was well below zero as the sun slowly sank below the distant horizon over the Yorkshire moors above Sleights.

The last rays of the sinking sun cast this gorgeous golden glow over vast snow fields when I noticed that glint of golden light caught in the tattered remains of a brown paper feed bag fluttering in the icy breeze as it clung, tenuously, to the barbed wire fence.

An unforgettable, golden moment, captured forever through the lens of my camera.

Thanks Ian ;) your visits and fulsome comments are a pleasure to receive!

This sunset was remarkable for the intense golden hue that spread over the ground and shimmered on the crystals of ice...It had been well below freezing for several days and the snow laid thick on the ground!

The tattered remains of the paper sack fluttered in the breeze, in shreds, along the barbed wire..I was awed by the transparency of the material which seemed to glow warmly in that sweet golden light! This is one of my favourite photos Ian..so I am especially glad that you enjoyed it!

Kind regards sent your way..

Hi Jim,

this one goes to my favourites! Nice contrast through the white frost and orange of sunset (rise?).

Is it your shirt that was caught in the barbed wire while trespassing and trying to avoid the property owner's angry dog?

Best wishes, Timo

Funny how rubbish caught on a barb wire fence can make such a wonderful sunset shot. Well done like it. Lloyd

tmoj~~~~I'm flattered by your fulsome comments and generous appraisal..especially the Y* ;) No torn shirt Timo, just a fragment of brown paper feed sack ;) and I was on the correct side of the fence too! The farmers around these parts are very tolerant people..This was such a memorable winters day..the sun was setting and spreading this wonderful golden glow and throwing those long shadows, redolent of a deep winter dusk..Always a pleasure to see you Timo ;)

Pavlik90~~I greet you warmly and thank you heartily for your kind appraisal!

Blue Arrow ®-----Much appreciated, thanks for your good comment!

Lloyd. B~~~~Deep snow and sub-zero temperatures forced me drive with care, slow enough to see this orange light fluttering like gold leaf...I could not resist stopping to capture this unusual..Glad you liked it!

tonydanis~~~Warm greetings Tony...I'm so pleased your for your approval!

To you all, I express my profound thanks for your friendly visits, your generous appraisals, your YsL and for taking the time to leave your precious comments ;)
