Darrien Shrimp Fleet

A wonderful spot to get off the Interstate and wind down for a while. Darien is both picturesque and historic. Ft. King George State Historic Site is a short distance from downtown and marks the spot of the southern-most Brittish outpost in North America. The cypress-wood reconstructions are wonderful and with very little effort one can harken back to bygone eras.

Nice Photo! Have you heard of many people floating the Altamaha from Hazelhurst to Darien? If so, what kind of craft did they use and how long did it take?

Hi MB. Sorry for the delay writing back. I just found this spot as a quick detour on a longer trip, and researched the immediate area. I have no info about these places, though it sounds like a good study when I have the time! Thanks for your comments.
