Under a Whitby Blue Moon~~~

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

One snowy night in early January 2011, during a prolonged cold snap, I ventured out with my camera in sub-zero temperatures and set up the tripod on a well known viewpoint known locally as SPION COP..Using a wide angle SIGMA 10 to 20mm lens, internal timer and longish 15 second exposure, much preferring the flexibility of manual settings and focus for all my shots. This allowed me to select a white balance setting for Tungsten light (most cameras have this facility) with the intention of enhancing the blue light from the moon. The resulting images were pleasing and unusual. Night photography requires a totally different approach and digital cameras are perfectly suited for this purpose..The trick is to patient, take lots of shots and adjust your settings until you are happy with the desired effect. Always take a torch, gloves, a flask of hot fluid and wear a cap and carry your gear in a back-pack!

♥♫♥ TIFFANY ♥♫♥~~~~Loved your comment TIFFANY and I'm happy to see you again!

J-mckinna---Thanks Jim :)--your observations and feedback is much appreciated..As for the star-like effect, it is simply a feature of the cheapish Pentax kit lens (18mm to 55mm f3.5) it has six bladed diaphragm and the star effect is enhanced when stopping up!

I have since purchased a better quality Pentax lens with a slightly different focal range (16mm to 45mm F4) and an eight bladed diaphragm..It will be interesting to compare the difference in night shots!

To you all, I express my sincere thanks for your votes, your visits, your generous compliments and Y*
