Spent several weeks on "Stormy" lake every summer as a teenager some 40 years ago. Story was that my uncle Dinny & 'Old Tom' the indian guide had run the camp on Pleasure Island for members of Parliment back in the '20's & 30's and 40's. Many good memories.

WOW! I am very happy to get your message! I am interested in learning more about the history of the island. We are blessed to have it and enjoy sharing it with others. My grandparents, Pierre and Hazel Grosclaude began traveling to Clear Lake Camp the year that Ruby and Mel Orton started running it. My Grandparents did not miss a year for 50 years or so. It became a generational thing. My father who is 61, grew up going there during summers. Then I followed, going every summer (I am 34)........ All those years our family was passing the little island on Stormy Lake but never knew we would own it........We have had it for 15 or so years now spending all summer there building and maintaining. My Grandparents are now 90 years old and struggling with health but still made it up for last summer (2008). I hope they hang in good enough health to make it one more summer.
I would love to know any more stories you may have. It means a lot to me. Thanks for your comment!
Peace, Randy Grosclaude

My Grandfather owned the island in the 40s to 60s. He sold it to the Jones's sometime in the 60's. I remember going there as a child fishing with my Grandparents and family. (I especially relememeber fishing near the rock at the tower. My Grandfather used to run a fishing / hunting camp and guided there as well. John Atchison

John, Thank you for your response. This is enlightening! It is like piecing a puzzle together on the history. And your communication has provided me with some great pieces. We were aware of the Atchison's once having it. The Jones's family Is who our family ended up getting it from. But we never got many details or timelines. What is the connection between booboobear and coffeedog? Are you the same person or different people? I would love to learn a little more. Do you have an email address in which I can better communicate with you instead of using this public posting site? My email is Randygrosclaude@gmail.com
Thank you very much!
Peace, Randy Grosclaude
