Roof-top view of a Shantytown

During the last two decades most villages of Qaradağ were almost deserted. The inhabitants mass migrated to the shanty towns around Tehran in the pursuit of construction jobs. They built cramped dwellings in farmlands by bribing the local authorities. The main features of these slums are unruly children playing in alleys and mushroom-like satellite dishes on the roofs.
