This is a Monarch butterfly. These guys are really big and fly almost as fast as a bird!
It took me a while to catch it!
They are stunning, just read a bit about them. The adult Monarch lays her eggs on the Milkweed plant, the only plant which the caterpillars can eat. In doing so they ingest toxins from the Milkweed which in turn is the Monarchs only line of defence from predators, the vivid colours of the Monarch are a warning to potential predators that they are not going to taste so good. Interesting stuff and again good shot.
Monarch also migrate like birds, from north to south and other way around.
The strange thing is the individual Monarch only get to see one way trip!
They migrate and reproduce, the next generation finish the round trip!
There is no closure for them!
That's a hard shot to get.....Awsome!!!
Very nice photo. LIKE ; )
