#53 Houghton Mill - a study ~UK~

Not selected for Google Earth or Google Maps [?]

Although there has been a mill on this site for most of Houghton's history, the original mill site (certainly in the time of the Domesday book) was approximately 0.4 miles along the river towards Huntingdon. The original mill pond is still there but now appears to be a natural backwater.

The present building was probably built in the 17th century, and was extended in the 19th century. In the 1930s, the mill was decommissioned.

In 1999, the National Trust put in new millstones. Flour is still being milled, and the building is a tourist centre. (Wikipedia)

I want to remind myself of things to come, ie warm sunsets with views like this. This charming mill taken in Cambridgeshire certainly has its charms. Enjoy, Herb

Another first to see, Clive. I wonder what you would have made of this mill, had you been there? Mind, I was there for a week next to this small pond. Cheers, Herb

Hi Herbert. A very impressive photo. L7. I've been very close to this place in both Huntingdon and St Ives, but not near this Mill.
