Thanks for all the comments. John I couldnt get very close, I use a Finepix HS10 with a 30X zoom which is very useful to have for these kind of situations. We were on an old stone bridge in the Dean Village part of Edinburgh, looking down on one of the calmer parts of the river which is a favourite hunting place for this Kingfisher and also a wild mink
