Wonderful capture of this old engineering structure, they don't build 'em that way any more! (not that I have any idea what 'that'is, but our friend from Whitby will tell me, I'm sure!)

I hope you enjyoed your Sunday walk alomg the canal!

Fantastic good picture LIKE 30 Amelia. Greetings from Holland John.

We skated round this lift bridge with a great deal of difficulty, clutching at anything to get a purchase on the ground, including blackthorn branches - OUCH! The rest of the walk was relatively trouble free thiugh and very enjoyable :)

There are quite a few lift bridges on the canals, and yes they don't make like 'that' anymore. John (below your comment) has some lovely photos of ones in Holland :))

Many thanks Al. It was very icy here, and impossible to get closer to the swing bridge :)

Warm greetings, Amelia

Very difficult approach, indeed, Amelia! I wonder how cold it was there... not comfortable weather, I suppose. Anyway, the photo is sublime! Lovely composition with that little green house as an eye-catcher.

Good morning dear Ria, and thank you for your kind words. It wasn't particularly cold on this day, probably about 3C, but the overnight temperatures had been low for several days, and this part of the canal doesn't get the sun in winter.

A few people who were walking here did not go any further, as the canal tow path was treacherous in places :))

Groetjes, Amelia
