Same bridge, different angle! There seems to be a leisure park for the bikers from the Katy trail with a little lake, fed by the river. Thanks for another view of Missouri!

Thank you May! I think maybe you misread the map a little here. The river is south of here about 3 miles. It's the big brown stripe where Highway 40 goes into Booneville. The green squares you see are probably water treatment for New Franklin...they are behind the trees and not visible from the trail.

The Katy trail state park is only about 30 feet wide, with parking lots here and there. This land is probably part of a farm, and I'm standing on a gravel access road. I had to climb over a fence to get here (it's still public land), so it's probably not meant to be a park.

Greetings, Ryan

Yes, i did! I was a little irritated by the name on the map. Thank you for explaining.

Water treatment, does it mean clearing of waste water? So you climb over fences, Ryan? ;-)

Dear greetings, May

Irritated? By the name? I don't know what you mean, May. I completely understand about missing the river, though, because it is so brown. The first time I saw it on the satellite map, I said "What is that, a road? Where's the river, it should be here...oh..."

I think how it works is after the city's waste water is cleaned and filtered, it is left in ponds like this and treated to kill remaining microbes before it's allowed to return to the river. You'll see the same kind of ponds if you look at the map north and south of McBaine, where Columbia's water goes.

I didn't actually climb over the fence, since it was already squashed flat (just a wire fence). It was put there to keep people from walking on to the trail and getting run over by a bicycle. I thought it would be okay. :-)

Greetings to you! Ryan

Sorry Ryan! Irritated is the wrong word. It's puzzled, I meant! Please, never forget that English isn't my first language.

And I was joking about climbing the fence. I just imagined, you with the camera in your hands climbing a fence. :-)

Have a nice Sunday Ryan!

Ah, puzzled! I didn't forget about your English, May, never fear. I will grant you 1000 mistaken words, and after you use them up, 1000 more. But I had a funny image of you banging your fist in frustration at the name on the map! Good thing we cleared that one up. :-)

I knew you were joking, don't worry! Ryan
