But, sadly, in disrepair, as it is uninhabited. Shame.

Замечательный снимок! И вообще так жить под этими скалами это страх...:) (Excellent photograph! And generally speaking this way to live under these rocks it is fear...) ( Das vortreffliche Herunternehmen! Und überhaupt so unter diesen Fels wohnen das ist die Angst...)

It's beautiful even in a state of disrepair - I would love to see it in person! Greetings from San Francisco, California

I was searching for Lærdal on Google Earth and clicked on this because ancestors are from this area. My grandfather's name was spelled as Lysne in the US, very close to Ljøsne. This home even looks very similar to a picture I have from the family. Could be the same home. I was very glad to find it on Google Earth. Beautiful photography. I can't wait to visit the area some day.

Erin2010: I am thrilled that my photos actually are of use to you in your family roots searcing! If you have the opportunity, you should really go here once. It is a dramatic landscape, and it is really impressive that they were able to get an outcome, and feed a family at Galdane. It is so steep there, but vere pittoresque today. You can fiond more info on Galdane here: http://www.gonorway.com/norway/counties/sogn-and-fjordande/laerdal/7637a9a18494ed0/

Thank you for the information and offer of help. I'm glad you mentioned the name "Slettevoll" because I know the name "Sletten" was used as a family name at one time, which may have become "Lysne" (Peder) in the U.S. I like to hear of these name connections. It's somewhat difficult to follow because names were changed or new names were taken when coming to the U.S. I'm continuing to do research, but will definitely seek you out for difficult to find information. Thanks!
