I'm looking forward to returning one day

Haave you been to the mid and northeast of the island? Much of it is still untouched by tourism and although it's difficult to reach by car, it's worth a visit. :-)

Although I have been to Kefalonia several times there is still much of the island I haven't fully explored.

I like to take my time discovering out of the way places , such as the many ruined churches hidden away down side roads.

That's an excellent idea. The buildings of the north (especially around Fiscardo (the very northern tip of the island), have survived the 53 earthquake.

Yes , Fiskardo is indeed beautiful. It's a great pity that so much elsewhere was destroyed in the earthquake.

The island seems to be enjoying a new lease of life now that many people are returning to spend their last years there.
