A Tori Amos concert is for the devotees - those who have acquired a taste for her musical style. While I admire her dynamic performance and musical brilliance, my inability to understand her lyrics or ballads meant that I was looking around for other crazy moments to capture my interest. A spotlight illumination of the roof of the Opera House interior is just one of those crazy seconds.
Thank heavens she lost your attention - this is a really great shot, Ian, amongst your best. Nice one :)
A music critic with a dead-pan delivery you are indeed... (chuckle)
Thanks for appreciating my humor, Bartowian. I think your Greek alter-ego didn't get your coloquial English. It's ok Evangelos.."dead-pan delivery" is complimentary in this case.
I think Tori Amos only did 2 concerts in Sydney - and at 60 I must have been the oldest present. I must admit I couldn't find out much about her before we went. Thought she might have intended to sing some Psalms to go with the Torah and the Prophets. It was a good night out - the company was wonderful!
And it was taken in the same concert hall where I had once organized a variety concert to raise relief aid for Bougainville (after the war) and for PNG (after the tsunami at Aitape). There was no looking at the ceiling that night...Thought this bit might be of interest to you Evangelos because of your special interest in Papua. Ian
Thanks Bartowian for the explanation. Apology wasn't due from my perspective but having your response to this enables me to know what to do to manage it. I have to admit that it was complex for there are some valid threads, then there are some political elements that have some connection, a few promises, some affirmation and some random nonsense. It takes a while to either research the history of this or to work it out. You have helped clarify things. Appreciatively, Ian
Sorry Gondor, I missed seeing your response till now. Thankyou for enjoying what I saw. I am very happy that you have enjoyed my portfolio too. And I look forward to more conversation with you about your portfolio too..
Sincere regards from Sydney, Ian
Tori Amos is great. Did she sing "Cornflake Girl"? It's one of my favorites ;)
Well Liviu, we have found that we have some different tastes!! Yes she did, but I had no comprehension of her lyrics whatsoever. She was drowned by her music and poor diction. Quite disappointing really. But the spot made some nice splashes on the vaulted ceiling.
EXCELLENT!~!~!~!~!BEST OF, greetingsvterezia
You and I both love colour, vterezia! Thank you for the nomination. That's great.
