Rideau Bakery, nothing changed since 1930

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Rideau Bakery, This store is around since 1932, in more or less Mom and Pop style. Originally on Nelson street, it moved to Main street. This is now the poor part of Ottawa. Not much changed inside either!

I was a bit disappointed. I had a hard time to choose. Not much assortment and everything too big. Originaly, I wanted to have lunch there. They have a lunch counter, but only had simple sandwiches. They had a soup, but not my favorite (Tomato & Rice). So I just had Apple Turnover, which was OK!

Must have been a jewish neighbourhood at one time. They still cook kosher food, so old customers are still regulars.

It's a nice idea to show this subject in sepia although the modern car reflecting on the window reveals its age! I vote for the apple afters! ;-)

Magdaleno, this bakery is to far for me to walk each morning and have my coffee (450 km from where I live) It was a subject of a documentary about this bakery family.

The Vo-id a pretty save bet, that this one is not a winner, so I promise free cakes for everyone, who votes .But even on the off chance I win, delivery is not included ;-).
