Whooper Swans & Canadian Geese
fantastic picture! i think i have never seen wooper swans... or maybe once in stirlingshire somwhere far away that hardly can see the difference. they seem to hang about with canada geese usually! safety in the numbers :)
some lovely new shots!
Hello Unda. Thank you I was so lucky to see these close beside the road & & a parking area nearby. There is a flock in this area every winter but I've never seen them so close before. Quite often they are in fields near the M74. There is usually a few near Glasgow @ Hogganfield Loch another place to them is Loch Leven, Kinross area.
it is funny you mention loch Leven... we read in evening news that thousands and thousands of geese are stopping there for a rest on their migration, so we went there to see that, but unfortunately never saw a single goose on the loch or any other birds they claim they have there (apart from couple of herons far away). as soon we got on the M90 we got to see one flock after an other landing in farmer fields right next to the motorway... and we couldnt even stop. i remember we travelled around in stirlingshire around that time and it was impressive how many big flocks are there on the farmer fields... just nowhere to stop the car. i cant mind seeing the wooper swans though... you got lucky with this shot! :)
Unique shot and very beautiful scene.
Are they migratory birds?
All the best from Iran, Mahdi
Mahdi Thank you for your lovely comments & visit to my photos. Yes these Swans are winter visitors from Icelands.
Best wishes from wet & windy Scotland.
E' molto bella l'effetto della nebbia che faticosamente si fa strada tra la brughiera, splendido momento dello scatto,Like, saluti Antonio
