This is an everyday event in every little town in northern Norway. Reindeer are mostly free to go where they want, and unless your garden is well fenced in, there is probably not much of a garden left at all. The animals are not big enough to present any danger to people, and are completely harmless. You may get as close as 20-40 yards/ meters before they will normally run away. In the fall, the big males tend to be protective of their females, and may seem aggressive.
