Akaroa is both an historic French settlement as well as a British settlement, nestled in the heart of an extinct volcano. Its harbour drowns the breached crater of one of the cones that make up Banks Peninsula, South Island NZ.

The area has a significant Maori history, overshadowed by the history of conflict with lawless Pakeha mariners prior to the arrival of British officialdom and French settlers in 1840.

:-)) I think we have to wait until I get more for the Euro then this days Ian. The prices for renting a Motorhome are 60% higher then in 2006/07. Greetings Berend

Then we need to share it, Berend and then it is 20% cheaper.
