The Roman Arenas in Nîmes

The Roman Arenas in Nîmes are the best preserved of the Roman world. At the end of the first century of our era, they hosted gladiatorial combats and wild animals. This amphitheatre is 133 m long, 101 m wide and 21 m high. It is composed of two levels of arcades and its facade is divided into 60 spans.

Les arènes de Nîmes sont les mieux conservées du monde romain. Dès la fin du 1er siècle de notre ère, elles accueillaient des combats de gladiateurs et d’animaux sauvages. Cet amphithéâtre mesure 133 m de long, 101 m de large et 21 m de haut. Il est composé de deux niveaux d'arcades et sa façade extérieure est divisée en 60 travées.

Oui, il y a des corridas de toros dans ces arènes depuis une centaine d’année. Dans quelques jours, pour le week-end de Pentecôte, il y a une grande féria très renommée, ici !
